Pictures For Front Cover

I chose to take my pictures in front of a graffited wall to emphasis the fact that the main star is an urban girl, and also so the magazine appeals to the urban teenage girl. I used a modle who had the girl next door look; no make-up, long blonde hair, blue eyes and casual clothing that come across as the typical girl next door.

In order to make a line and shadow line around the text you go to layer, layer style and then drop shadow, this allows you to choose the distance, spread and size of the shadow.  I have done this around my masthead and the text 'LAKEN' to make them standout more then the rest of the text.
I produced this trophy symbol by selecting the shape tool, and then selecting the shape out of the wide range of shapes on photoshop. I then dragged the shape to the size I wanted and filled it in with a colour.  I choose to a trophy as it represents a winner so it could represent what the words suggest, who the audiences winners are in the music industry or that the magazine is a winner.
In order to make a coloured line around my main feature title I went to layer, then layer style then to stroke. This then allows you to chhose the colour you wish to have around your text and the thinkness of the line you wish to have.
This is a print screen of my new and improved masthead. I got the idea from Billboard magazine who fill in the gaps in the letters in their masthead. I used the magic wand tool to select the area which I wanted to fill in. I then selected the small square at the left hand side at the bottom to change the colour, I picked colours that stand out the most, are vibrant and appeal to both sexes. I then used the brush tool to fill in the area selected.

This is where I got the idea from.

Double Page Spread Ideas

I like the above double page spread of Lady Gaga, as I think the picture reflects her personality perfectly. She is looking straight at the camera and is putting across an emotion to the readers. The text is simply and compliments the colours of he outfit. 'Icon for the next generation' tells the audience even if they didn't know who she is they would know from those five words how popular and influential she is in the music industry.
The double page spread to the left if of Taylor Swift. The picture on the left is very simply but yet very effective. Also the text in the teser abover the main title says 'the very pink' this text is reflected in the colour of the teaser and the main feature title. There is also another teaser underneath the main title which goes into more detail of the actual article. The fact that the main article isn't on this page will make the reader want to turn the page and continue to read on. I think this doub;e page spread is aimed at young girls who aspire to be pop stars at the teser says ' the very pink, very perfect life' this is what most little girls like and want out of life.

Contents Page ideas

I like the above contents page as it isn't to crowded and it is clear who the main star is as well as the other smaller feature. There is a small explanation under each small heading this explains the reader what each feature is roughly about, this is also a teaser to make them want to read the full article. I think this magazine contents page will appeal to the party goers as there is a feel of a party spirit within the pictures and within the retro text for example the '76' on the main picture. The list of features also reflects the left third on a front cover.
